Lamitan city officials are contemplating the establishment of a solar power plant as a solution to the worsening power problem in the city.

This as the city waits for the operation of a five megawatt generator set expected to function within the year.

Lamitan Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay announced the expected completion of the foundation where the five-megawatt generator set will be placed.

The area is located in barangay Sengal, also being eyed to accommodate the proposed solar power plant.

“We are only waiting for the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission for the operation of the generator set,” said Furigay.

Furigay said that the city will be needing a continuous supply of electricity because it is now the center of the provincial government.

The construction of the Provincial government office is ongoing in barangay Sta Clara.  (Allen Abastillas)
