The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) has reported plans to close all transitory sites for Internally Displaced Persons by June this year.

Assistant CSWD Officer Leonida Bayan said that by June all Internally Displaced Persons left homeless by the Zamboanga siege will be housed in their permanent shelters constructed by the government.

“We hope to close if possible all transitory sites before June,” said Bayan.

At present, there are still 1,500 families being housed at different transitory sites.

The CSWD is still providing support and services such as supplemental feeding, day care services and others to these families, Bayan said.

Bayan said that the Local Inter Agency Committee (LIAC) members will still discuss what will happen to materials left in transitory housing.

There are 11 transitory sites in Zamboanga city for siege victims.

This includes Masepla 1,2,3, Kasanyangan, Rio Hondo, Bugguc, Tulungatung, Lupa Lupa Rio Hondo, PTSI in Upper Calarian, Silsilah and Taluksangay.
