The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-9 (LTFRB-9) has revealed that there are still no applicant for the 250 taxi slots intended for Region 9.

Zerita F. Climaco, Administrative Officer V ofthe LTFRB 9 said in an interview, the taxi slots were requested by the Department of Tourism (DOT) two years ago for at least 250 taxis for the region.

“Nohay pa quien tan apply pero chene ta pidi information cosa el requirements, pero nuay pa ken tan apply,” Climaco said.

Climaco explained that the reason why there are no applicants could be due to their requirement to use current car models for taxi, and that the vehicle can only be used for 13 years.

Aside from having a current model vehicle registered with the LTFRB, other requirements for franchisng a taxi unit include the payment of P520 per two units of taxi and P70 for every additional taxi.

“Si kere sila man apply you can come to our office and inquire,” Climaco said.

In other highly urbanized cities like Cebu, Manila, and Davao taxis are the most common mode of transportation. (R.G. A A. Go)
