An armed drug pusher was killed in a shootout between policemen amid a buy-bust operation in Sitio Salum, San Roque on Good Friday.

Killed was Sarri Sali y Igasan, 45, married, while his cohorts identified as Joselito Sta. Maria y Galvez, 34, single and Jay-Ar Cadelena y Mohammad, 27, married, were arrested.

A police report disclosed that at around 3:20 p.m., men of the Sta. Maria Police Station led by Chief Insp. Joseph Ortega, conducted a buy-bust operation targeting Sali.

However, during the operation, Sali, who was armed with a .45 caliber pistol, resisted arrest that resulted in a shootout with the lawmen.

Sali was killed while his cohorts were arrested.

Policemen recovered from the suspect three sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, .45 caliber (Chrome) pistol loaded with five ammunition inside the magazine, and the P500 marked money.

Sta. Maria and Cadelena were detained at the Sta. Maria Police Station while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examinations.

Sali was allegedly known to be a drug pusher in the area and responsible in supplying shabu to some drug addicts.

Police have readied charges against the arrested suspects. – Dan Toribio
