The Zamboanga City Police has allayed fears of residents on the existence of a serial rapist and killer reportedly victimizing young women in the city of Zamboanga.

“Walang particular na grupo na gumagawa ng ganyan,” said Zamboanga City Police Director Sr Supt Luisito Magnaye during a press briefing.

This as police wait for laboratory results to confirm the identity of another female victim whose remains were found inside an abandoned building in Lantawan Pasonanca.

Magnaye also confirmed that police have a lead in the latest murder in Lantawan.

The police is also using CCTV footages to determine the identity of the suspect involved in the incident.

Police have identified the identity of the murder victim found inside an abandoned building in Lantawan as 23-year old Maria Clariz Fernandez Faylona, single and a resident of Villa Rio Drive Pasonanca.

Faylona was identified by her adopted brother Julius through the slippers found near the victim’s body.

Recall that the body of another female victim, Erika Jean Rosales, was found along the Lunzuran Superhighway last January.  (Liza Jocson)
