The Port of Zamboanga Passenger Terminal Building has a new x-ray machine and walk through scanner to ensure passenger safety at the local port.

Samuel Simon, ZCIPSI President, said that the x-ray machine is a Philippine Ports Authority project worth P5 to P10-million.

The walk through scanner will be utilised to check passengers while the X-ray machine will be used to check passenger baggage.

During the operation of the equipment last Monday, port personnel were able to confiscate a bullet from a female passenger.

The woman was however allowed to travel after the bullet was confiscated by authorities.

“This is for the security of the port, especially embarking passengers.  Maaassure pag galing sa Zamboanga city dumaan ng security check yan,” Simon pointed out.

The office still has one old x-ray machine which port personnel are planning to place at the port entrance to check baggages of passengers and even port employees. (RGAAGo)
