200 Student Action Force members hold forum PDF Print E-mail

More than 200 members of the Student Action Force from the ZAMBASULTA area participated in a leadership forum at a local convention hall yesterday.

The activity was entitled the Student Action Force Leaders Forum 2017 with the theme, “Empowering student leaders through partnership and collaborated efforts towards peace and development.”

Mr. Michael S. Klecheski, United States Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission in Manila was the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

The forum proper was held at the Palacio del Sur yesterday with 219 students and 15 advisers from the different SAF chapters of Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi Tawi in attendance.

It featured workshops on empowerment, engagements among student leaders and dialogues on social issues.

It also featured topics such as threats to security and safety of the community to raise awareness on safety and security among youth leaders.

The forum featured the following speakers and topics:  Angelique Go,City Administrator of Zamboanga city who gave her lecture on “Growing Economically, Globally,” Christian Olasiman who discussed “Patriotism: the Zambasulta way,” and Dr Cihangir Hans Arslan who gave his insights on Extremism through his discussion anchored on “The Pull of Terrorism.”

The forum is part of a three-day activity featuring a visit to the Zamboanga Ecozone, a local mall and the famous Sta Cruz island.

Last Thursday, participants arrived at the Zamboanga Ecozone where they listened to a message by Ecozone Chairman Christopher Arnuco on the topic, “ Youth for a better and brighter future.”

Today, participants will be at the Sta Cruz island for a coastal clean-up, Scubasurero and Team building activity.  The team is also expected to hold their socialization activity, cultural exchange and chapter presentation on their accomplishments as part of their closing program. (LAJ)
