Zambo Summer Fest draws crowds to Paseo PDF Print E-mail

Paseo del Mar teemed with people Friday afternoon, as the City Government kicked off Summer Festival 2017 with an array of entertainment activities to include songs and dances, live band performance and a fashion show.

A large number of visitors, mostly the millennials trooped to the Paseo Esplanade and gamely joined the opening salvo ushering in the summer season in Zamboanga.

Organized by the City’s Special Events Team headed by Christian Olasiman, the summer festival seeks to provide wholesome activities and entertainment to residents throughout the duration of the summer months.

The list of activities including the Dia di Mam Caling on April 26 marking the birth anniversary of the late Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat that will be highlighted by a commemorative mass and program at Pasonanca and a mural painting competition from April 24-26 at Jardin maria Clara in Pasonanca; Hip hop dance competition on May 13; the 22nd Summer Learn to Play a Sports program from May 1-31 and Dia de Gen. Vicente Alvarez on May 18.

The Fiesta na Isla spans 8 weekends from April 16 through May 13.

Festival de las Bellas y Flores showcasing Zamobangueno creativity will be held on May 20 kicking off with a parade of mascot creations from the Fire Station in ledesma Street to Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar at 4pm.

Danza Verano, a disco party will wrap up the summer festival celebration on May 27 at the Boy Scout Camp in Pasonanca.

Meanwhile, entries to the Mi Ciudad de Zamboanga photo competition showcasing the best photographs of Zamobanga City will be exhibited during the Dia de Mam Caling program on April 26 in Pasonanca. (Sheila Covarrubias)
