A grade 11 student of a private school was arrested during an entrapment operation at a local mall last Sunday after allegedly hacking a Facebook account.

Police identified the suspect as Janius Jienar Go y Gansabot, 18 years old, and a resident of Tugbungan.

Go was arrested by intellience operatives of the Divisoria Police Station while in the act of demanding money from the victim at the third floor of the commercial mall.

Divisoria Police Station Chief Inspector Arlan Delumpines said that the victim, identified as Alfie, complained that the suspect was demanding money from him after allegedly hacking his Facebook account.

The victim said that he received a message through the Facebook account of a certain Sabrina Joaquin threatening to publish nude photos of his girlfriend on the internet.

Alfie soon learned that Go was able to obtain nude photos of his girlfriend by hacking his Facebook account and was now demanding money from him in exchange for the photos.

Upon learning of the incident, Delumpines immediately planned an entrapment operation against the suspect.

Around 6:30pm last Sunday, Alfie met with Go at the third floor of a commercial mall to consummate the pay-off.

Police immediately pounced on the suspect after the suspect received the money from Alfie.

Go was detained at  the Divisoria Police Station while his cellphone containing the photos of Alfie’s girlfriend was turned over to the 9th CIDG Cyber Crime office.

Investigation showed that Go hacked the FB account of Alfie using the latter’s email address.  (Dan Toribio)
