The City Health Office (CHO) is urging Tuberculosis (TB) patients to come out and be cured as TB is a highly curable disease.

Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, City Health Officer said in an interview that in Zamboanga City, for 2016, the city registered 95 percent case detection rate and 90 percent cure rate.

“El TB hinde se debe tiene huya. It’s a highly curable disease. El TB is curable and we have all the medicines available,”Agbulos said.

Agbulos said that barangay health workers, even those working in far-flung barangays are trained microscopists.

Residents in these areas will also have access to having their sputums tested for the disease.

Health centers offer free sputum examination.

Medicines will also be given for free for those who test positive for Tuberculosis.

Residents who are experiencing cough for at least two weeks accompanied with low grade fever should go for testing to the nearest health center.

TB patients are given medicines such as Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol which are given in the health centers. (RGAAGo)
