More bidders will be invited to participate in bidding for Zamboanga Electric Cooperative’s Investment Management Contract, following a failed bidding scheduled this month.

In an interview with E-Media,  Romeo Bue, Special Bids and Awards Committee Chairman, said that the National Electrification Administration has authorized a second bidding to be conducted this July.

More bidders are expected to participate in this activity after an announcement inviting interested bidders to be published on May 2.

After the publication, new bidders will be given a period of a one month to investigate Zamcelco’s operations and financial status.

This also includes the preparation of documents required in the bidding process.

The new bidding schedule was ordered following failed bidding which was participated in by two power distribution companies.

Meralco and Aboitiz’ Davao Light decided not to submit their bids and asked for more clarification on the Terms of Reference of the IMC.

The two companies are still expected to participate in the second bidding scheduled this July since they have not officially withdrawn their intention to participate, said Bue.

The publication prior to bidding is expected however to attract other interested bidders to submit their bids for the IMC. (Liza Jocson)
