Maritime Police based in Dapitan city has apprehended a total of 11 pumpboats due to various reported violations last March.

The pumpboats were apprehended by personnel of the 904th Police Maritime Station based in Pulauan port in Dapitan city.

MaritIme Police-9 Director Sr Supt Pedro D. Soliba said tht most of the apprehended pumpboats were unregistered and unmarked.

One of the apprehended boats was reportedly used to ferry illegally cut lumber without a permit from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA.)

The boats were later released after their operators paid a total of P4,070 in fines.

“We continue educatiing people who own motorized pumpboats to register their units where they are residing so that they will not be suspected for doing illegal activities,” Soliba pointed out.  (Allen Abastillas)
