Hundreds of jobseekers, majority of who are new graduates,  trooped to a job fair sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office in observance of this year’s Labor Day.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Jojie V. Aragon arrived in Zamboanga city to keynote yesterday’s labor day program and spearhead ribbon cutting ceremonies to open the job recruitment program.

A DOLE press statement said that the job fair offered more than 40,000 positions for this year’s fair.

Majority of the job seekers trooped to booths of recruitment agencies for foreign employment.

Of the 40,055 vacancies offered in the job fair, more than 37,000 are for overseas placement.

Aside from the job fair, the DOLE also organized a Diskwento Fair offering low prices on basic commodities to workers.

Other activities include a livelihood fair and a medical mission and a talent program for workers.  (Liza Jocson)
