An active member of the Philippine Marines and his wife were injured after surviving an assassination attempt by motorcycle ridng gunmen in Guiwan last Monday.

Randy Tonga Rayteran, a member of the Philippine Marines assigned at the CCSBN Naval Command at the Western Mindanao Command and his wife, Analisa Anicu Rayteran.  Both are residents of Sunrise Village in Guiwan.

Investigation showed that the incident happened while the victims were on their way home coming from their rice store in Barangay Tumaga.

Upon reaching Guiwan Elementary School, one of two motorcycle riding gunmen approached the couple and shot them several times.

Randy was hit but bullet on his left arm while his wife, Analisa, was hit by bullets on her upper right buttocks.

Randy managed to drive his motorcycle and ask help from neighbors who later brought them to a private hospital.

Investigation further showed that the assailants were wearing bonnets covering their faces making it difficult for the victims to identify them.

Police are investigating the possibility that Robbery is the motive of the attack since the couple had just come from their store.   (Dan Toribio)
