More than 300 persons benefited from a free medical-dental outreach program conducted by the Police Regional Office-9 in two barangays of Zamboanga del Sur.

Supt Abita Mates, Chief of the Regional Health Service-9, said that a total of 310 residents of barangays Songayan and Benuatan in Dinas municipality benefited from outreach services in line with PRO-9’s Community Affiliation and Response for an Effective Police Service program.

The theme of the medical mission is “People Empowerment for a Crime and Drug Free Community through Public Service within the Reach of Juan and Juana.”

Of the 310, patients, 225 benefited from medical examination and consultation while the rest availed of tooth extraction and other dental services.

The outreach program was deemed successful despite peace and order concerns in the two communities which have reported presence of rebels known as “Masa.”

Mates thanked PRO-9 Regional Director Chief Supt Billy Beltran for sponsoring the free outreach program.

Meanwhile, Mates said that her office will also hold the annual “Operation Tuli” at the Camp Batalla Headquarters along RT Lim Boulevard this coming Monday.

The mission is limited to children of police personnel and non-uniformed personnel of the PNP.  (Allen Abastillas)
