The Lamitan city government is building a public library for its constituents.

The library is expected to be inaugurated on the city’s Foundation Day, coinciding with the Fiesta Lami-Lamihan this June.

Mayor Rose Furigay said that the building to house the library will also serve other purposes such as a museum and research centre.

The building, donated by a Zamboanga-based businessman, will also house computer equipment and the complete records and data of the city of Lamitan, according to Furigay.

The name of the library will be the Wee Siu Tiu City Library and Museum in honor of the late parents of businessman Lepeng Wee.

Wee donated the lot where the property will soon stand.  (Allen Abastillas)
