A former security guard accidentally shot his son with a shotgun during a scuffle inside their house in barangay Guisao last Tuesday.

Culianan Police Station Commander Chief Inspector Elmer Solon identified the victim as Jaymar Arquiza y Enriquez, 28-years old, and a resident of Guisao.

The victim’s father was identified as Rolando Arquiza y Ricarda, 71 years old, a former security guard now working as a carpenter.

Initial investigation showed that Rolando was resting inside his bedroom when he was awakened by an argument between Jaymar and the latter’s sister.

Rolando was trying to pacify his children when the latter went inside the father’s bedroom and took out his shotgun.

Rolando tried to get his shotgun from his son but the gun went off, hitting Jaymar.

The victim sustained pellet wounds on the stomach and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Rolando, meanwhile, was taken to the police station where he was detained while his shotgun was given to the police investigator.

Police said that the gun was registered in the name of Rolando but documents have already expired since the year 2015.  (Dan Toribio)
