Government troops are targetting two more Abu Sayyaf leaders as the latter reaches its “tipping point,” a Western Mindanao Command official reveals.

Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt Gen Carlito Galvez said that the Abu Sayyaf has already reached its tipping point, a point where the group will surely be wiped out no matter what steps they take to survive.

Galvez said that this was brought about by operations which neutralized at least two Abu Sayyaf leaders.

Abu Rami and Alhabsi Misaya, two notorious Abu Sayyaf leaders, were neutralized in two separate operations in Bohol and Sulu respectively.

Galvez said that the downfall of two more Abu Sayyaf leaders might just spell the downfall of the Abu Sayyaf.

He however refused to name the leaders who government troops are aiming to neutralize due to operational considerations.

Galvez said that the continuous surrender of Abu Sayyaf members is also contributing to the group’s destruction.

The Westmincom Chief expressed optimism that the Armed Forces will be able to meet an order given by President Rodrigo Duterte to annihilate the Abu Sayyaf by June this year.  (LAJ)
