Zamboanga City Council Committee on Anti-Drugs Chairman Jerry Perez is giving a stern warning to all barangay officials that they wil have to suffer  the consequencesif they continue to be involved in illegal drug activities.

This, after two officials of barangay Putik  tested positive for drug use during last week’s surprise drug testing.

Perez said that Kagawad Rosendo Garcia and Tanod Eliner Perez will have to face legal proceedings in violation of Republic Act 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act.

Perez is stressing and pushing all efforts in leading the campaign against illegal drugs in Putik with the objective of making their village a “Drug Free Barangay.”

For him, cleansing his organization-from leaders to followers would serve as a great motivation to the community to rally behind their battle against the proliferation of illegal drugs in their village.

Perez said that through this initiative, he is expecting other barangays to follow his move to reduce the spread of drug addiction in their respective community.

– Bhong Simbajon/RMN News
