More than 300 families from three island municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay benefited from a medical outreach program conducted by the Police Regional Office-9 over the weekend.

Among the services provided during the program were free medical consultation and medicines, a feeding program, and distribution of school supplies.

In his message, PRO-9 Regional Director Chief Supt Billy Beltran asked parents not to use police officers as a form of threat to make their children obey them.  He also asked children not to be afraid when they see police officers in the streets.

Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the PRO-9 officers who spearheaded the medical outreach program.

Meanwhile, Beltran assured that such programs will be part of continuing efforts by the police to be closer to the community.

“They should believe that what we are doing is for their own safety so the people themselves will come to us to offer their help,” said Beltran. (Cristine Carzada)
