The Sumisip local government is planning to construct a new health facility in Barangay Buli-Buli to make health services more accessible to the people in the area.

This after observing that the present facility, the Sumisip District Hospital in barangay Luuk Bait, is not readily accessible to the people, based on an inspection conducted by officials led by Basilan Governor Jim Salliman.

Saliman observed that the road leading to the hospital is not fully cemented and the hospital itself is far from the center of town.

There is also a lack of security forces guarding the 10-bed medical facility.

Governor Salliman directed Provincial Health Officer Hanibert Ajala to study the possibility of putting up a medical facility and clinic in Barangay Buli-Buli where the site of the Sumisip municipal government is located.

According to Basilan Provincial Spokesperson Alton Angeles, the provincial government will donate a property in the area and allocate funding of at least P30-million for the new medical facility.

The new facility will be a 20-bed hospital offering medical services such as surgery and other medical services.  (Allen Abastillas)
