Police have ruled out robbery as the motive for the death of a man whose body was discovered in Curuan last Monday.

A Police Regional Office-9 report identified the victim as Bernardito Vidad Guerrero, 60 years old, married and a resident of Sitio Gumamela, Curuan.

The discovery of Guerrero’s body was reported by the victim’s niece, identified as Marry Grace Guerrero Bonifacio, 30 years old.

A day prior to the discovery of the victim’s cadaver, the latter reportedly went to a blacksmith shop of a certain Albert and bought four pieces of bolo worth P1,000.

The victim then proceeded to the house of a certain Dodong Francisco bringing cash money amounting to P12,000 and had a drinking session with persons in the area.

This was the last time the victim was seen in the area.

After hours of exhaustive search, the victim’s dead body, together with the scabbard of his scythe, was found downhill by his son Roderick after following a trail of blood starting at the hill’s topmost portion.

The victim’s wallet containing cash money amounting to P3,000 was also found inside the victim’s pocket.

The victim was brought to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital for post mortem examination.

Police are still conducting an in depth investigation to determine if foul play was involved in the death of the victim. (LAJ)
