Climaco commends police on arrest of gang-rape suspects Print

Mayor Beng Climaco has commended police authorities particularly Police Station 6 personnel for the swift arrest of suspects in the reported gang-rape incident in barangay Sto. Nino early Thursday morning.

The mayor at the same time has directed the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to subject the 20-year old victim to debriefing and counselling as part of the healing process.

The alleged gang-rape incident happened Thursday dawn at a boarding house in Sto. Nino. Police authorities immediately conducted pursuit operations and collared the 6 suspects.

Upon learning about the incident, Mayor Climaco yesterday morning met with Police Regional Director Col. Billy Beltran, PS 11 Acting Commander PSupt. Diomarie Albarico and PS6 Station Commander PSupt Nonito Asdai to discuss about the case as well as the progress of other cases.

She also took a look at the suspects at the detention cell at PS 11.

The mayor directed police authorities to closely investigate the incident in Sto. Nino as well as all other similar cases.

She added that the local government will always be behind victims of abuses and will always ensure that the victims’ best interest is defended. (Sheila Covarrubias)
