DOST makes science accessible in new program Print

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is set to implement a new program next week to make science more accessible to the grassroots sector.

Dubbed as “Science for the People (SFTP,) the program will be implemented from May 22 to 24 in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Rosemarie S. Salazar, OIC Finance, Administrative and Technical Support Services of the DOST, said that the program aims to bring DOST services from the municipality down to the purok level.

The program will feature activities such as a forum on Techno-transfer and Investment.

Other activities include the following: One Lab One Store One Expert; Disaster Risk Reduction Management forum and a Star Book Display.

Several participants are expected to join the program during the activities.

Activities to be featured during the launch include a technology training and demonstration on buko juice, fish and meat processing which includes a feeding program and tree planting.

This is the first time that SFTP will be implemented in region 9 after being launched in Manila.

The SFTP will be a regular activity of the DOST and will be brought to other cities and provinces in the region.  (RGAAGo)
