Navy responds to distressed tanker Print

A Philippine Navy vessel under the operational control of Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) responded to a distress call of one of the tankers of Chelsea Shipping Corporation Tuesday morning, May 18, 2017, four nautical miles off Colorado Point, Zamboanga.

PC 395 (BRP Felix Apolinario) was patrolling in the vicinity of Siocon, Zamboanga when they were given orders to assist MT Denise 2 who suffered from engine failure around 8 o’clock in the morning today. Capt. Enrico Peralta, the Chief Security Officer of Chelsea Shipping Corp. immediately contacted the Philippine Navy for assistance and security after noticing that their engines were tailing. NFWM immediately responded by sending PC 395 to the area to render security and assistance.

MT Denise 2 went back to operating status after a few hours of repair. The shipping corporation extended its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Navy for responding to their distressed tanker. Naval Forces Western Mindanao likewise expresses that it is ready to give a hand to the vessels that require aid in terms of security and assistance in its area of responsibility.
