Technical- vocational have topped the list of courses whose graduates are in demand in the workforce, according to a labor official in Zamboanga city.

Department of Labor and Employment Regional Director Ofelia Domingo said that aside from technical and vocational courses graduates of the following courses are also shown to be easily employed by companies:  Hotel and Restaurant Management, Education and Agriculture and Fisheries.

Domingo made the revelation as she advised new graduates to take into consideration courses that are in-demand in planning their future.

She however told new graduates to take academic courses they excel in as a major consideration in taking the field of study that they want to pursue.

Aside from these two factors, Domingo also said that graduates should also take into consideration the financial capacity of their parents and the standing of the school where they want to enroll in.

Meanwhile, Domingo also advised parents not push their children into taking up courses that they themselves want them to pursue.

“Parents can advise their children but they should not dictate on what course the child should take” Domingo added.  (RGAAGo)
