Three more Abu Sayyaf bandits, including a loyal follower of the late Abu Sayyaf leader Alhabsi Misaya, were neutralized by members of Joint Task Force Sulu yesterday during continuing operations in Sulu province.

The three suspects were neutralized during an armed confrontation between elements of the 61st and 65th Marine Company, Marine Special Operation Group and the 2nd Special Forces Battalion with Abu Sayyaf members under the group of the late ASG sub-leader Alhabsi Misaya in Bangalaw Island, Banguingui, Sulu Friday dawn.

Western Mindanao Command Spokesperson Capt Joann Petinglay identified one of the fatalities as a certain Imbo,  a loyal follower of Misaya, who was killed during the confrontation.

Troops recovered an M-16 rifle, M-16 magazines and ammunition from the suspect.

Troops also recovered a sachet of suspected shabu and a cellphone containing information about fellow bandits.

Joint Task Force Sulu Commander Brig General Cirilito Sobejana described the suspect as a trusted contact of Misaya in Bangalaw Island.

“He is a KFR contact and facilitator in the island and a keeper of Misaya’s firearms and pump boats used in kidnapping ventures,” Sobejana said.  (Liza Jocson)
