The Zamboanga City Police is set to implement round-the-clock and mobile checkpoints as part of security measures in preparation for school opening.

This was the directive of Zamboanga City Police Officer in Charge Supt Jomari Albarico for all station commanders within their areas of jurisdiction.

Albarico said that the police has to be responsive and anticipate all types of criminalities and other related acts of violence.

“We cannot anticipate the criminal mind.  That’s why we must not lower our guards, to pre-empt or prevent those nefarious activities,” Albarico stressed.

Prior to issuing the directive, Albarico called a series of command conferences with the station commanders for the latter to lay down their respective security plans.

He also directed the commanders to coordinate with personnel of Task Force Zamboanga more specifically to secure teachers assigned to outlying and island barangays.

Albarico is also calling on all residents to cooperate and report to the nearest police station suspicious persons and activities.

Albarico issued the directive based on the order of Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco to strengthen police visibility in preparation for the opening of classes.  (Bhong Simbajon)
