The City Health Office (CHO) will conduct an inspection of schools and boarding houses to ensure the health and well-being of students in preparation for this school year.

City Health Officer Dr Rodel Agbulos said that he will deploy at least 30 sanitary inspectors to check on facilities of both places.

Sanitary inspectors will be checking whether sanitary permits have been issued and whether canteen workers are holding health cards.

Inspectors will also check on breeding places of mosquitoes, the conduct of fumigation and other health related activities to ensure the safety and well being of students.

Meanwhile, inspectos will also check on the ventilation occupancy, water availability and comfort rooms in boarding houses.

Agbulos advised parents to carefully check boarding houses to see that they are not crowded and ensure that these are located in safe areas.

Based on records of the City Permits and Licensing Division, there are 162 registered boarding houses in Zamboanga.  (RGAAGo)
