Two detainees of Payao Municipal Police Station escaped from detention last Tuesday night.

Police Regional Information Officer Chief Insp. Helen Galvez identified the escapees as Benhar Jain and Abtar Abdurahman.

The two are scheduled to be committed to another jail facility in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The report said that the two suspects bolted by climbing the upper portion of the detention cell and jumped towards the back portion of the police station at around 8:24pm last Tuesday.

The detainees went their separate ways to divert the attention of the lawmen who were chasing them.

Policemen conducted hot pursuit operations right after the incident was discovered.

The suspects were detained after being charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, the 2002 Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Jain was scheduled to be brought to BJMP District Jail in Ipil while Abdurahman was about to be  turned-over to the same jail facility while awaiting a court order.

Sr. Insp. Raul Clavecilla, Chief of Payao Municipal Police Station and his men are still conducting pursuit operations against the escapees as of press time.  (Dan Toribio )
