Army men, govt worker ambushed in Siocon Print

Four Army personnel and two other civilians were ambushed by armed suspects in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte last Thursday.

A Police Regional Office-9 report identified the driver of the vehicle as Bhong Asani Dulah, 53 years old, married and a resident of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Dulah was with Engineer Ambali Alawali Tangcapa, 53 years old and working as Assistant Operation Officer of the Sirawai local government; and four Philippine Army personnel.

Investigation showed that the car bearing the victims was travelling from Zamboanga city to Sirawai Zamboanga del Norte at around 1:45am when they were ambushed by six men bearing firearms upon reaching Barangay Malambuhangin in Siocon.

The driver and his passengers suffered no injuries from the incident.

The vehicle however was damaged and riddled with bullet holes.

Police were able to recover four fired cartridges of a caliber 5.56 M16 rifle and five fired cartridges of a caliber .45 pistol.

Siocon Municipal Police Station personnel are still conducting an in-depth investigation on the incident.  (LAJ)
