The majority bloc of the House of Representatives have given their approval to the declaration of Martial law by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The approval was reportedly given during a meeting by members of the majority bloc, who met as soon as the declaration was made by President Duterte in Russia.

The Members of the House of Representatives reportedly went on stand by during last Tuesday’s session waiting for the personal appearance of Duterte who was scheduled to return from Russia.

First District Congressman Celso Lobregat, who recently transferred his allegiance to the PDP-Laban, pledged his support to the declaration citing several reasons.

“All of us met and all agreed and came out with a statement supporting the President’s declaration of Martial Law,”  Lobregat said.

Lobregat also explained that if Congress wants to overturn the declaration, it can do so in joint session between the Senate and the House of Representatives.

“You also need the majority of votes in Congress to overturn the decision of the President which we think is impossible to happen,” Lobregat explained.

The Solon is warning the public not to play games with this serious declaration as this is aimed towards making it difficult for terrorists to conduct atrocities and obtain assistance from their foreign counterparts.  (Bhong Simbajon)
