The Philippine Statistics Authority will soon start its annual survey on poverty to provide an estimate on poverty incidence nationwide.

The survey, dubbed the Annual Poverty Indicator Survey, is expected to start on July 8 until the last day of the month.

Nearly 400 households are expected to be surveyed for the program:  96 in Zamboanga del Norte, 96 in Zamboanga Sibugay, 96 in Zamboanga city and 97 in Zamboanga del Sur.

A total of 12 enumerators will be deployed in the region to conduct the survey, four to be deployed to each area.

Training is currently being conducted in Manila in preparation for their deployment.

Ma. Flerida Tan, Supervising Statistical Specialist, said that the survey is being done nationwide and geared towards knowing data on income so poverty incidence can be estimated.

Household occupants will be asked questions on employment, the number of occupants in the household and income-related questions.

After the survey, PSA-9 will review the data for validation and will forward such to the PSA office in Manila.

Tan is appealing to chosen families to respond accurately and accommodate the enumerators to be able to provide the right data to be used by government planners in policy making.  (RGAAGo)
