13 Muslim pilgrims held at Dipolog checkpoint PDF Print E-mail

Authorities have interrogated 13 Muslim pilgrims who were stopped at a police and military checkpoint in Sicayab, Dipolog city last Friday.

A report from the Police Regional Office-9 said that the 13 persons, who arrived in a private vehicle, claimed to be on pilgrimage.

The individuals reportedly came from different barangays in Marawi and were scheduled to visit the different mosques in Mindanao.

The group was reportedly on the way to a mosque in barangay Barra in Dipolog city when they were stopped by authorities.

The 13 religious people were identified as Haj. Abdul Rasid Soliman Macasasa, 34; Junaid Racman Dangdang, 34; Omar Ibrahim Macasasa, 57; Abdula Mohammad Mapait, 22; Saudi Umbaro Gunnan, 28; Juhaiber Mohammad Disemban, 17; Abdula Dimapinggan Ayonan, 32; Ansari Disangcopan Basheron, 23; Abdul Asis Acampong Ayona, 32; Ala Sumagayan Basher, 24; and Auni Baracal Said, 29.

Authorities are still monitoring the group’s activities in Dipolog. (Dan Toribio)
