Two brothers, identified members of the Abu Sayyaf group under Sub-leader Idang Susukan, were arrested in two separate raids in Maasin and Ayala last Monday.

Supt Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga City Police OIC, said that the first raid in Cahaya Timor Subdivision in Maasin led to the arrest of Al Hamed Abdurahman y Manalas, 37 years old.

The second raid in Country Homes Subdivision in Ayala resulted to the arrest of Murasidol Abdurahman y Manalas, 32, married.

Authorities were able to confiscate a fragmentation grenade, three blasting caps, and a plastic bottle containing a solid substance suspected to be an explosive from Murasidol.

Police meanwhile, seized five M16 magazines, nine rounds of live M16 ammunition and one bolt assembly of an M16 rifle from Abdurahman.

The arrest of the two brothers came following the apprehension of Abu Kimhar Asusi at the local seaport after arriving from Jolo Sulu that same morning.  (Dan Toribio)
