7 fishermen held by police Print

Police invited seven fishermen for questioning after the latter reportedly acted suspiciously and failed to present authorized identification cards in Mariki last Wednesday.

The men were spotted by troops of the Joint Task Force Zamboanga who later turned them over to the Central Police Station.

During investigation at the Central Police Station, the men told Supt. Ariston Limos that they have relatives in  Mariki and Kasanyangan villages and they have been staying in the area for the past two days.

The men were identified  as Almujir Masihol y Jul, 22, married, of Bogok Kasanyangan and native of Barangay Bolingan, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay; Albasil Masihol y Maddan, 25, married, of Brgy. Mariki, and a native of Barangay Bolingan, Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay;  Bensar Amilasan y Malang, 18, married, of Brgy. Mariki, and a native of Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay;   Badoh Buhari y Lyalah, 48,  male, married, of Niangkaan, Jolo, Sulu; .Salman Madan y Jul, 29, married, of Brgy. Kasanyangan, and a native of Niangkaan, Jolo, Sulu;  Dani Madan y Jul, 40, married, of Brgy. Kasanyangan, this city and a native of Niangkaan, Jolo, Sulu and Mannan Madan y Jalil, 45, married, of Anuling Niangkaan, Jolo, Sulu.

Although the fishermen have identification cards issued in Zamboanga city, some of them reportedly have Voter’s IDs issued in Sulu province.

It was also learned that their palakaya (pumpboat) was unregistered here. (Dan Toribio)
