At least 120 persons allegedly involved in illegal drugs activities have already been arrested by personnel of the Isabela City Police Office since day one of their anti-illegal drugs operation.

Supt. Jerome Afuyog Jr. disclosed that 1,243 drug users also surrendered to his office.

He explained that his office and the  Isabela City Jail are now experiencing difficulties because the jail facility of the city is over crowded.

The maximum capacity of te Isabela City jail is only 70 inmates but the actual nuber of inmates is more than double the capacity. “Na problema na kami ngayon kasi marami na kaming nahuli. Ang iba nga nagkakasakit na.“ Afuyog said.

Afuyog explained that because of their intensified operations against lawless elements and drug pushers in the city, he submitted a report and request the National government thru the Peace and Order Plan of the city to put up a bigger jail facility in Isabela City.

Afuyog also requested from the local government two engine seacraft to be used against criminals operating along the coastal areas of the city. According to him, they cannot operate well against lawless elements at sea due to lack of seacraft.

Meanwhile, Afuyog is continuing his dialogue with the different barangay officials of the city to help the police in combating lawlessness in the city.

According to Afuyog he personally leads the random check points in the entry and exit points of the city, most especially in barangay Sumagdang where there is a road going to Lantawan. Afuyog said that Lantawan is known to be where abu sayyaf members use as their getaway area. Allen Abastillas
