To highlight the city’s commitment to education, Mayor Beng Climaco spearheaded the unveiling of a two-storey six classroom building at the San Roque National High School Monday, the first day of classes for public schools.

The school building project, costing P10.18 million forms part of the infrastructure program of the Climaco administration and in line with the city’s continuous support to the education sector.

“We put premium in the education of our children for education is the key to a better future and better Zamboanga City,” the mayor said as she handed over the ceremonial key to City Schools Division OIC Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad, the school principal and other stakeholders.

Joining the mayor during the turnover ceremony were Councilor Josephine Pareja, San Roque Barangay Chair Litlit Macrohon, the school principal and supervisor, OIC City Engineer Cris Navarro, representatives from contractor NLL Construction and other stakeholders.

The building has an area of 789.48 square meters and is expected to help improve classroom-student ratio and ultimately help ensure quality education.

Other school building projects turned over this year included a 2-storey 6 classroom building at the Labuan Central School worth P6.84 million last May and a 2-storey 4 classroom building at the Pasonanca Elementary School last January. (Sheila Covarrubias/PR)
