Blue Stallion stable’s pride Marvin Mabait of Zamboanga City continued on his hot streak by stopping erstwhile rated Adelino Balongcas in the 5th round of a scheduled 8-round non title bout last Saturday, August 13 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque.

The rated Philippine Bantamweight challenger from Talon-Talon Loop sent Balongcas crashing to the canvas in the first round before finishing off the Cavite based slugger in the fifth with two more knockdowns, the last one sending the hapless Balongcas out of the ring by the sheer power of his crunching blows.

Mabait scored his 9 knockout win and his 14th overall while remaining unbeaten in 16 professional bouts.
Mabait’s Elorde outing served as his final tune up before his big homecoming bout against Indonesian number 2 Junior bantamweight Eric Diaz Siregar set on October 10 in a fight card being promoted by his patron, 2nd District Rep. Erbie A. Fabian.

Mabait, the southpaw heavy hitter, has scored heavily in his young career with only three bouts going the distance while most ending in abbreviated knockouts.
He is currently honing up on his skills with the Gerry Penalosa boxing camp in the spanking new Penalosa Sports complex in Libis, Quezon City under the watchful eyes of youthful trainer Michael Jon Palacios.

Mabait’s Elorde outing was an offshoot of his cancelled bout in Cebu as he replaced Silvester Lopez in the Bakbakan sa Elorde card.
