Amid the prevailing security situation, more than 50% of students have reportedly attended the first day of classes in Zamboanga city last Monday.

Department of Education Zamboanga City Schools Division records showed that the students are among 206,000 students expected to go to school last Monday.

“Ongoing el clase regular y el otro, tan enroll pa.  More than 50% el ya bira na escuela,” said Dr. Rosalio Conturno, City Schools Division Office Chief of School Governance and Operations.

No incidents related to security were reported.

A complaint however reached the Dep-Ed office regarding the transfer of a student coming from another public school.

“Our appeal to the stakeholders is to support our activities and to bring the students to school,” Conturno said.

He added that principals were also instructed to hold classes regularly despite the number of students.  (RGAAGo)
