An abducted vessel crew member was recovered by Sulu barangay officials yesterday after reportedly escaping from his Abu Sayyaf captors.

Joint Task Force Sulu Commander Brig Gen Cirilito Sobejana identified the kidnap victim as Roy Borja Ramos, 35 years old and a crew member of the FB Ramona 2.

Sobejana said that Ramos was recovered within the vicinity of Sitio Kandabaw Barangay Lagtoh by Kibar Pala and Lilih Karimuddin,  Patikul barangay officials.

Ramos was recovered after reportedly escaping his Abu Sayyaf captors last Tuesday.

The kidnap victim was brought to Joint Task Force Sulu Headquarters for initial debriefing and proper disposition.

Ramos is a crew member of the FB Ramona 2, a service-type vessel that was declared missing last December 20.

He was kidnapped along with FB Ramona 2 Captain Noel Besconde, Marine Diesel Mechanic Reyjim Rocabo and fellow crew member Roel Liones.  All are residents of Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

Besconde was beheaded by his Abu Sayyaf captors last April 13.  (Liza Jocson)
