Police arrest man carrying gun, shabu PDF Print E-mail

Policemen in Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay confiscated an unlicensed gun and two sachets of shabu from a motorist in a police checkpoint, last Friday afternoon.

Police Regional Information Officer, Chief Insp. Helen Galvez identified the suspect as Semar Indris Hadjirul, married of Purok Tuburan, barangay Poblacion, Malangas.

Police investigation showed that at around 5:30 p.m., Hadjirul was driving an Isuzu Crosswind Hilander with plate number KCS 603, registered under the name of Hji. Mata Hadjirul, with two passengers onboard. The vehicle arrived at a police checkpoint manned by policemen led by Insp. Dexter Gumahob Adrias.

During inspection on the documents of the vehicle, Hadjirul presented expired papers that prompted the lawmen to question him.

However, while in the process of investigation, policemen noticed an object under the driver’s seat.

Upon verification, lawmen recovered a .45 caliber pistol with bullets inside the magazine. Hadjirul failed to present necessary licenses for the gun.

Further, police also recovered two sachets of alleged shabu from the Hadjirul.

Police added that the two passengers also underwent body search but nothing was found in their possession.

Hadjirul was detained pending the filing of charges in court. – Dan Toribio
