BFP holds 2017 Barangay, Industrial Fire Olympics PDF Print E-mail

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) conducted their 2017 Barangay and Industrial Fire Olympics yesterday, at the parking lot of a local mall in this city.

Barangay fire brigade participants included Manicahan, Mercedes, and Boalan, while for industrial fire brigade, the participants included Coca-Cola FEMSA Zamboanga Plant, Pepsi-Cola Corporation Zamboanga, KCC Mall de Zamboanga, Petron Corporation Zamboanga Depot, and Big Fish Canning Corporation.

As of the writing of this report, the participants were still competing on the proper rescue of fire victims, hose drill connection, fire situation, and extinguishing fire using a fire extinguisher.

Cash and trophies await the winners of the competition.

The Barangay and Industrial Fire Olympics is being conducted for skills enhancement, fire prevention, and preparedness.

“Si chene kita pirmi ansina tan enhance kita el skills del maga fire brigades and they will serve as force multipliers in cases of fire,” F/Chief Insp. Clint S. Cha, Zamboanga City District Fire Marshall, said in an interview.

According to Cha, he is expecting more barangays and industrial fire brigades to participate in next year’s competition. (R.G. A A. Go)
