Marawi Marine fallen hero brought to Basilan Print

On June 14,2017 at 8:45 am, Sgt Meynard O Pegarido PN(M), one of the 13 fallen Marines was ferried to his hometown, Lamitan, Basilan aboard a Navy vessel, BA 484.

Sgt. Pegarido PN(M) was a member of Marine Battalion Landing Team 7 (MBLT 7) who battled against Local Terrorist Group (LTG) Maute on June 9, 2017. He was brought to Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) on June 12,2017 and was accorded military honors together with CpI Jobert O Cofino PN(M).

His remains will be at his residence at Purok 2 , Colonia, Lamitan, Basilan and will be put to rest on June 17, 2017 at 12 noon, Saturday, at Colonia Cemetery, Lamitan, Basilan.

On the otherhand, the remains of CpI Jobert O Cofino PN(M) was brought to Camino Nuevo-C Chapel, Zamboanga City immediately after the accorded military honors at NFWM. His interment will be on June 20, 2017 at Old Cemetery, San Roque, Zamboanga City.

The bodies of other fallen Marines were brought to the Philippine Marine Corps Headquarters at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City last June 12, 2017 where they were accorded military honors and welcomed by their families and the AFP headed by the Commander- in-Chief, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

The AFP honors the bravery and service of these fallen Marines and will continue what they have started to put an end to the Maute Group and free Marawi City from its claws. (PR)
