San Roque has intensified its fight against dengue following the latest health report which placed the barangay on top of the list with the highest number of cases.

The barangay has declared “Martial Law” against dengue, according to San Roque Barangay Captain Joselito Macrohon.

Macrohon enjoined village officials, organizations and residents to join in the fight against the disease.  This includes barangay officials, purok leaders, urban poor groups and 4P’s organizations.

The sectors are enjoined to assist the barangay in its massive clean up drive to minimize the effect through the destruction of breeding places of mosquitoes.

Strict anti-dengue measures include an obligatory clean-up in each household.

The barangay will observe the ‘4 o’clock habit, ‘  a cleanliness program where residents do a clean up of their homes and surrounding environs at 4pm daily.

Barangay officials will also keep a close watch on residents who will violate an ordinance on cleanliness and penalize them for violations.

Macrohon considers the campaign as challenging considering the huge population of the barangay but underscored the importance of implementing such.

Barangay San Roque is surrounded by bodies of water, a lake and creeks serving as tributaries to the river, which have become breeding places for the Aegis Aegypti mosquito.

“El limpiesa hende lang responsibilidad del oficiales del barangay.  Cumbiene man ayudahan todo’l mga vivientes limpia diila mismo areredor si quiere gat kita eradica conel dengue na San Roque,” said Macrohon.  (Bhong Simbajon)
