The Office of Civil Defense-9 will conduct its quarterly National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) at Titay National High School in Zamboanga Sibugay on June 29.

More than 2,000 people are expected to participate in the drill at a school in the area.

The choice of venue was recommended by the Department of Education, Sibugay Schools Division.

Evaluators will check if students and faculty are well versed with the ‘Duck, Cover and Hold’ positions.

They will also check the availability of first aid kits, evacuation and disaster plans., first aid and response time.

“This is for the general welfare of everyone and pag practice ng drill, hindi ito laro lang.  It’s a serious program of government para ipaalam na we have to be ready kasi ang earthquake di natin naprepredict.  We need to be serious and we must know what to do para maiwasan yung maraming casualty,” said Emilia Vasquez- Julhajan, OCD-9 Assistant Regional Director.

Julhajan said that the drill is being done quarterly to ensure the highest level of awareness especially in populated areas.  (RGAAGo)
