Two Abu Sayyaf members were killed during joint operations conducted by the police and the military in Tawi Tawi last Thursday.

The two,  Hamid Mohammad and Altasil Lakbaoin,  were killed when Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi under Brig General Custodio Parcon and police elements launched a law enforcement operation against remnants of the group of the late Abu Sayyaf Sub leader Abraham Hamid.

The two were reportedly killed after resisting arrest by authorities in Attubig Tanah, Bongao at around 9pm last Thursday.

An exchange of gunfire followed, killing the two.

“We believe that this operational accomplishment will leave no other option but to force remnants of the Abu Sayyaf members in Tawi Tawi to return to the fold of the law and join the cause of the government against terrorism,” said Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, Jr., Western Mindanao Command Chief.  (Liza Jocson)
