Celso sponsors 14th year of Pagbukah Print

With his objective of sustaining and displaying harmony and unity among people representing different faiths, culture and beliefs, Congressman Celso Lobregat will gather today people representing different faiths and cultures in the city to join the Muslim community in the Pagbukah or the breaking of the fast to be held in a local hotel here in observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Congressman Lobregat today is calling on Muslim and Christian leaders to engage and sustain the harmonious relationship based on two common fundamental religious commandments: love of God and love of neighbor, without nevertheless compromising any of their religious tenets.

The Pagbukah or Iftar activity likewise, he said, also typifies the strong and harmonious relationship between Muslims and Christians in Zamboanga City towards the promotion of dialogue and peace.

Together with our Christian brethrens, I am one with the Muslim community in the celebration of faith and harmony in the city, we must co-exist with each other to have a peaceful Zamboanga City,” Lobregat said.

Congressman Lobregat has been an advocate of promoting Muslim- Christian relationship one of which is by way of sponsoring this sunset meal called Pagbukah during Ramadan which is in its 14th year now, the implementation of a literacy program for Muslim women and the acceleration of basic social services and implementation of various infrastructure projects in Muslim-dominated barangays. – Dexter Yap
