The City Council of Zamboanga has agreed to extend pipe laying projects by the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) in the downtown area.

The Council also voted to allow contractors to work for a period of 24 hours daily to hasten work on these projects.

Councilor Lilibeth Nuño proposed the resolution which gave contractors an additional 150 days to complete the projects.  Councilor Rommel Agan, meanwhile, suggested that contractors be given more hours per day to be able to complete the projects early.

The projects involved pipe laying construction starting from barangay Pamucutan all the way to the city proper.

Engr. Antonio Sta Elena, ESTI Project Director, said that the project is now 77 percent complete.

Completion rate is expected to go up to 90% by the end of June.

Sta. Elena said that they have been asking the City Police to grant them permission to work on a 24 hour daily shift but were not granted by the latter.  (RGAAGo)
