A Zamboanga teacher claimed to have been threatened by a Maute group supporter, who also demanded gas money to finance his travel to Marawi to help the terrorists.

The teacher, who requested anonymity, said that she was inside her classroom at around 9am yesterday when she received a call  through her cellular phone.

The female teacher was terrified when the caller identified himself as a member of a group linked to the Maute terrorists in Marawi city and proceeded to threaten her.

The male caller allegedly demanded funds for gas to be used by them to go to Marawi city to help the terrorists.

The caller further threatened to harm the teacher should the latter refuse to give in to their demand.

Aside from personally calling the teacher, the alleged sympathizer also sent text messages saying:  Potolan namin kayo ng leeg gago yan asalam alaycom kami ay hihingi ng tulong sa inyo tatawin kami sa Marawi pang gas ng sasakyan.”

Police are now conducting further investigation after the teacher brought the incident to the attention of authorities.  (Dan Toribio)
